Repurposing Scrap
The main function of project relic is design and construction. Finding practical applications for reclaimed scrap by turning them into furniture and art. For example a wing from a decommissioned aircraft could become a conference table or a bonnet from an old car could be turned into a book shelf.
Through this process the project aims to make a positive contribution to the world by moving away from consumerist products by creating quality, long lasting items, designed to be passed down from generation to generation. This is achieved by not only using sound construction methods but also imbuing the products with historical and sentimental value which creates an emotional connection between the object and owner.
